Knightly Tours was started by David H. Knightly in 1969. Today we are the oldest independently owned tour wholesaler packaging Alaska vacations. Itinerary variety is primary at Knightly Tours. Linda with Knightly Tours did an excellent job. Everything flowed seamlessly. We started in Portage AK with rafting at Spencer Lake, down the Placer River. The guides were great. While in Portage make sure you take time to visit Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center. We went on to Homer. From Homer we went on a Halibut fishing charter. That was not the best experience as the waves were 8-10' high. No one can predict the weather however. We went on a day cruise to Seldovia. Got a change to see porpoise and otters along the way. There was also a rookery that had several species of birds. The captain was great. We also went on a Bear Adventure from Homer. We flew in Cessna plane from Homer and landed on the beach at Lake Clark National Park. The views were breath taking. The pilots/guides were amazing. It was great seeing the bears in their natural habitat. We salmon fished in the Kenia River. The salmon were late coming in, so we didn't see many, but it was beautiful just being there. We then went to Seward. From Seward we went on a 7 hour cruise to Kenai Fjords National Park. Captain was wonderful. The glaciers are beautiful. We were able to see orca's, otters, sea lions, humpback whales, and many birds. It ended up being an 8 hour tour as the captain was nice enough to take us where the orcas were spotted. The Alaskan Sealife Center is definitely worth your time. Seward is a cute small time. You almost feel like you are in the era of the gold rush days. We flew to Kodiak Island for 3 days. Wildflowers were amazing, as well as the views. The hotels were good. Some of them better than others. If you can stay at Cliffside Bed and Breakfast in Kodiak, you won't be disappointed. Marion and Marty were great hosts. Lovely home with a great view of the bay. Thank you Linda, you did a great job. It was a trip of a life time. Tod and Beth

Do not use. The hotel accommodations were not as described, there was nothing luxury about this trip. Check out times did not align with transportation times and no offer for late check outs. Hotels were not in locations with food or shopping requiring ubers or walking. Transportation was not sufficient for group quantities causing almost 2 hours wait time and we eventually took an uber. For a 25 year anniversary trip, there was nothing accommodating or luxurious. People were rude and staff couldn't care less about customer service. The hotel captain Cook was the only place that met my expectations and accommodations. Very friendly staff.

Knightly Tours did an exceptional job setting up our itinerary for our trip to Alaska in July, 2023. This was our 5th trip planned through Knightly Tours, so we have been very happy with them. This year, we had a flight delay during our trip due to weather, but Ray at Knightly Tours worked to adjust some later flights and made sure we got to do everything we planned. He also planned a couple of really great experiences for us in Fairbanks - the Running Reindeer Ranch and an Arctic Circle flight and unforgettable visit to Wiseman. We would have never known about these tours if it weren't for Knightly Tours. Highly recommend working with them to customize your itinerary for any trip to Alaska!

We hired Reco travel services to get guidance on our upcoming trip to Alaska.  We like to WARN that reco assigns independent agents, where they advertise that one flat fee and worry-free vacation which was not the case with us. ( we never took this vacation) we were in the inquiry stages and paid to Reco which in turn she hires a 3rd party Knightly Your travel company, between the 2nd tier and 3rd travel agents the travel cost doubles.  I asked many times about their fees or any hidden charges and she replied back that it's non to us but I asked her to give me the price sheet since there were not many excursions were included and to my surprise there were charges. We would not recommend reco as your experience may vary but at best you will end up paying service fees without any services. Knightly Tours charged us an upfront deposit fee which we were told will be used toward any accommodation or refunded (which they haven't refunded) and their itinerary was tripled as much if we had booked it ourselves.  We understand the travel company needs to make some commission but twice as much is ridiculous. Stay away from Reco and Knightly Tours.

I'm giving them a 1 because 0 was not an option. Our travel agent arranged a tour from Seward (where our cruise ship docked on our last day) to Anchorage (where our flight left from). The tour description was outstanding, going from Exit Glacier, to Turnagain Bay, and several other stops. Our "tour guide" arrived in a van that was too small for our group and luggage. As well, he was never informed by Knightly of our itinerary. We had to read the itinerary to him! He was a nice guy put in a bad situation. His microphone was also broken, so what little he could share with us could not be heard. This was more of a "transport service" vs. the tour we had been promised. After some amazing tours the previous week (not with Knightly), it was a letdown to have our last day such a disappointment. Hard to believe they have stayed in business as long as they have. My advice - stay away. Choose another operator.

They booked for friends and us a Land package in Alaska and we had a number of problems for which we have had communications problems. Our travel agent has actually contacted them a while ago and they have yet to even contact them. We were left without transportation a couple of times and we had to contact the hotels to which they booked us. Their emergency number was useless since they ended at 5:00 pm on weekdays only. I would never recommend them as a travel tour operator to anyone based on our experience.

Our Custom Tour Itinerary for 2 weeks in Alaska was organized by Knightly Tours. We encountered 8 glitches. When we arrived at one motel, they didn't have our 3-day reservation. On another day when we arrived at the railroad station to pick up our tickets, the agent said our tickets had been reserved for 5 days prior to the day we came -- not the day that was printed on our itinerary. On one day of our itinerary, the first paragraph said our train departed 7:30 a.m., the next paragraph said it departed 12:10 p.m. For one overnight stay, our itinerary said we should leave our luggage outside our motel door in the morning and the porter would deliver luggage to the train station. When I checked with the clerk at the motel, she said this was not true -- we needed to take our luggage with us. Had I not inquired, we would have been without our luggage! Although we never missed any of our tours, the several problems had to be resolved through phone calls to Knightly Tours when we were traveling, resulting in less free time. Not a worry-free vacation, as we were always wondering what could go wrong the next day!

I'm sorry you had such a bad experience.

It would really help if you'd provide more detail about your trip. You should include things like:

- actual dates of travel

- Who traveled (e.g. 2 adults, 2 children)

- communities you visited (& number of nights)

- a link/URL to Knightly Tours

- if Knightly sold you a specific package, what was that package.

Another unclear complaint about a company. I agree with Scott about giving more details. Seems to me like a case with many Alaskan visitors - doing more research to buy a $500 refrigerator than to buy a $15,000 vacation. Too bad unfortunatley.

Terms and Conditions

Reservations and deposits.

A deposit of $500 per person required to confirm a proposal.  Some vacations may require an incremental deposit of 30% of the total fare. You will be advised of this before you make a deposit on your vacation.

Final Payment

Due 75 days prior to departure. Late arrival of final payment delays document delivery and can result in released or cancelled space that would be subject to cancellation fees.

Late Bookings

Bookings made within 75 days of departure require a credit card guarantee. If space is not confirmed no charges will be made to the card.  No space will be confirmed until this credit card guarantee is received.

All pricing is USD,  per-person based on a run of house hotel rooms double-occupancy rate . Single, triple, quad and children’s rates are given on request when available. Package prices include all transportation, accommodations, sightseeing and courtesy transfers as outlined. Knightly Tours’ preparation / planning costs are also included. Prices are subject to change without notice and any surcharges imposed by suppliers will be the responsibility of the guest regardless of payment status.   Price breakdowns are not given on vacation packages.

All departure days of the week, dates and prices are published based on the most up to date information at time of printing. Knightly Tours reserves the right to alter dates, days of the week and prices based upon final schedules imposed by suppliers.  Knightly Tours reserves the right to substitute suppliers of equal or greater value at its sole discretion.

A $50 per person fee (maximum $150 per booking) will be assessed for changes made after receipt of final payment.

Documents will be sent electronically and will include all information.  If required vouchers that are needed will be included. Paper documents will be charged $50.  All documents will be sent 21 days prior to Knightly Tours first service.

Request in writing must be received within 60 days of completion of the trip for services cancelled or altered by the vendor. No refunds will be made on services that are voluntarily cancelled or changed by the traveler.

Cancellation Charges

The purchase of comprehensive travel insurance is strongly recommended. Please provide written notice of cancellation. The following  per person  cancellation fees will be strictly enforced:

Prior to 75 days before tour departure:

• $100 Administration Fee, plus any supplier cancellation charges
• 75-46 days before tour departure: 30% of fare, plus any supplier cancellation charges
• 45-31 days before tour departure: 70% of fare, plus any supplier cancellation charges
• 30-0 days before tour departure:  100% of fare

Travel Insurance

Sometimes bad things happen to good people! Knightly Tours wants you to book and travel with peace of mind. We strongly recommend that you buy Travel Insurance, so you can relax.

Through CSA Travel Protection we offer you a travel insurance program that provides you protection from Trip Interruption & Cancellation, Travel Delay, Baggage & Document Loss, Emergency Assistance, Medical Expense Protection and 24-hour Emergency Assist Line.

Guest Responsibilities / Physical Limitations

You are responsible for determining your fitness for any trip and must notify Knightly Tours at time of booking of any physical or mental limitations that would require special services while traveling.  Specific tours and air carriers have weight restrictions and surcharges apply.  Guests’ must give weights at the time of booking.  Avis car rentals require you to be 21 years of age and have a major credit card, for Hertz you must be 25 years of age and have a major credit card. Failure to notify Knightly Tours of the above conditions can result in loss of fares paid by the traveler to us. Guests booking airline travel will be required to give their full legal name and birthday at the time of booking.  No tour is confirmed until this information and deposit are received.

Immigration & Customs

Due to heightened security restrictions all cruise guests, and guest entering Canada should travel with a valid passport or Customs approved identification. All non U.S. citizens must a carry passport and appropriate visas.

Responsibilities

All vacations are handled under the business management of Knightly Travel Services, Inc. (dba Knightly Tours), at 19119 North Creek Parkway Suite 108, Bothell, WA 98011 (425) 998-5440. Written notification of claims against Knightly Tours must be given within 60 days of completion of tour and suits must be filed in the Court of the State of Washington. Knightly Tours acts solely as the agent for various transportation companies and sightseeing contractors and assumes no responsibility for any personal injury sustained while traveling to/from or on a Knightly Tours vacation or for loss or damage to any personal belongings while on our vacation. Acceptance of Knightly Tours travel documents by agent or individual is considered approval of all above conditions.
