Regal Princess Itineraries

Regal princess review, review of regal princess.

The 2014-built Regal Princess cruise ship is the 2nd Royal-class vessel in the Princess Cruises fleet , with fleetmates Royal Princess (2013), Majestic Princess (2017),  Sky Princess (2019), Enchanted Princess (2021) and Discovery Princess (2022). From the same class is also the P&O UK 's liner Britannia (2015).

The vessel (IMO number 9584724) is currently Bermuda- flagged (MMSI 310674000) and registered in Hamilton .

History - construction and ownership

Princess Cruises is a USA-based passenger shipping company headquartered in Beverly Hills CA. A former subsidiary of P&O Princess Cruises (1977-founded), in 2003, the company merged with Carnival Corporation - the world's largest cruise shipowner. Among Princess Cruise Lines Ltd's assets is the Caribbean private island resort Princess Cays (on Bahamas Eleuthera Island's southern end), located approx 80 km (50 mi) from Nassau .

Regal Princess cruise ship

The 3600-passenger ship Regal Princess is among the largest cruise ships sailing the seas. The vessel was built at Fincantieri shipyard, Italy and has 19 decks. Regal Princess features an impressive number (16) of bars and restaurants and a luxury spa. Regal offers unique features to her guests, such as a glass-enclosed walkway over the ocean known as the SeaWalk.

Princess Cruises new ship design

The first sailing season of Regal Princess started in the Mediterranean on October 17, 2014, when the ship headed for Fort Lauderdale, FL. A curious fact is that in 2016 Princess Cruises starred in a new 6-part ITV documentary "The Cruise". On March 3 the show aired for the first time in the United Kingdom. It focused on the life of cruise passengers and crew as they sailed through Northern Europe and Russia onboard the Regal Princess. The line featured in a TV documentary for the second year. In 2014, sister ship Royal Princess was featured in reality show "The Cruise Ship".

Decks and Cabins

Regal Princess staterooms (1780 total, in 38 categories) include 350 Suites, 1088 Balcony and 342 Inside cabins, in 38 categories. The ship has no Oceanview cabins. Most outside accommodations (1438) have private step-out balconies. The ship also has 36 wheelchair-accessible cabins. The largest are the Balcony Suites (470 ft2 / 44 m2 plus 210 ft2 / 20 m2 terrace).

The boat has 18 decks , of which 15 are passenger-accessible and 8 with cabins.

Shipboard dining options - Food and Drinks

There are many for-fee dining options onboard Regal Princess, but guests who would rather not pay are offered enough quality and variety to satisfy. Those who prefer tradition will choose between the three main dining rooms: Allegro, Concerto and Symphony.

Princess Cruises new ship design (Lido restaurant)

Horizon Court and Horizon Bistro are the buffet options, providing a more casual vibe. Passengers who want to have lunch in their swimsuits can take a burger from Trident Grill or a slice at Prego Pizzeria. Indoors, Alfredo's features delicious calzones, salads and thin-crust pizza. Allegro Dining Room is the only option for free dinner with traditional set dining. Passengers can eat at 5:45 p.m. or 8:15 p.m. Allegro's menus are diverse and offer a soup or salad course, an appetizer, pasta and an entree. There is also a special dessert menu.

Follows the complete list of Regal Princess restaurants and food bars.

  • Sabatini’s Restaurant (Italian specialty restaurant, a la carte: offers 3-course Italian/seafood menu; open between 6 p.m. -11 p.m., reservations recommended)

Shipboard entertainment options - Fun and Sport

The bulk of performance action takes place in Regal's Princess Theater, situated on decks 6 and 7. The theatre features palladium-style seating; it's deep, and if you don't arrive early, you might find yourself in the back, which is far from the stage. However, there aren't any obstacles or bad sightlines.

Princess Cruises new ship design (Theater Lounge)

The show lounge doesn't offer tables or drink holders, so if you order one preshow or come with a drink, you'll have to hold it. The entertainment is excellent and varied, with a beat that is quite innovative. In addition to the production shows, the Princess Theatre hosts other acts including vocalists and instrumentalists.

Follows the complete list of Regal Princess lounges, clubs and other entertainment venues for kids, teens and adults.

  • The Piazza Atrium (3-deck open floor area; features live performances entertainment and lobby Bar Piazza)

Regal Princess Wiki

The shipbuilding order was placed on February 17, 2010. The shipbuilding contract with Fincantieri was signed on May 4, 2010.The vessel's keel was laid down in August 2012. The launch (float-out from drydock at Monfalcone ) was on March 26, 2013. Sea trials were in the Adriatic Sea (April 16-21, 2014). The boat was officially delivered on May 11, 2014.

The 4-day pre-Inaugural Cruise (May 16-20, 2014) was to Kotor Montenegro from Trieste Italy . The itinerary was operated prior to the Maiden Voyage from Venice (May 20, 2014).

Fun facts: It takes 3 million man-hours to build a Royal-class cruise ship. For its construction are used 37,000 tons of steel. For instance, about 12,000 tons of steel were used for constructing the Disney Concert Hall in  Los Angeles . The paint used for the vessel is 95,000 gallons (360,000 L), which is two times more than the quantity consumed for Golden Gate Bridge (re-painted annually). The electrical cables wiring the whole vessel are long 2484 ml (4000 km) which is enough to link  NYC  with  LA .

Regal was Carnival Corporation 's first liner with installed  Ocean Medallion  technology. The ship also hosted the company's largest gambling/slot tournament (USD 200,000) via a partnership with Scientific Games Corporation. The themed "Monopoly Cruise for Cash" onboard casino campaign was offered throughout 2018 (fleetwide). It culminated on the Regal ship in December, during the 7-day Eastern Caribbean cruise (itinerary Dec 9-16) roundtrip from Fort Lauderdale to St Maarten, Princess Cays and St Thomas.

In July 2019, Carnival Corporation placed to the Finnish marine engine producer Wartsila an equipment order for delivery and installation of a waste gasification system on Regal Princess. The technology is based on a self-fuelling thermal decomposition unit that provides safe (and sustainable) disposal of vessel's waste (contaminated, dry-burnable and hazardous materials) which is usually offloaded at seaport facilities. The new gasification system recovers energy from ship's waste heat (produced by thermal destruction) which additionally results in lower green gas emissions and energy savings. The system reduces vessel’s waste to ~5% (of its original volume) and produces a sterilized material (BioChar) which is recycled within the unit as fuel.

The vessel's powerplant includes four Wartsila marine diesel engines (model 46F, 2x 12V and 2x 14V) with combined power output 62,4 MW (83,700 hp). The propulsion system is based on two azipods with combined power output 18 MW (24,000 hp).

The ship has Fincantieri Monfalcone yard/hull number 6224, volume 142714 GT-tons, DWT-deadweight tonnage 12193 tons, LOA length 330 m, beam 38 m (max width 47 m/including the Navigation Bridge's wings), max draught 8,6 m.

There is usually one in all the rooms - if it’s not there just ask your steward if you want one.   Hope the weather is kind to you - it was for us.

Our cruise will be next June. Do you mind sharing how the weather was on your June cruise? Thanks. 😊

Tender Por t

The day began very rainy. Our shoreX today was to travel down to St. Michael's Mount and Land's End (literally the outermost place in all of England). By the time of our excursion early afternoon, the sky had cleared and it was a warm, sunny 65 degrees.

From the ship, you can see two of Henry VIII's castles on either end of the port on promontories.

It's a tender port, which I don't generally mind, but the tenders here (at least the one we took to shore was an open boat in very choppy waters. It involved climbing three very large steps up and across a gap onto the boat. I have a particular fear of falling (life-long). I love heights and have no fear of them (we're on the 15th deck in a balcony, and I love looking down.) But I injured my knee a couple years ago and still have some mobility issues. But I made it. The 20-minute scoot across the bay was very choppy.

Getting off the little boat was much easier as it was level with the dock and only a couple steps down before the long gangway up to the pier.

Our bus was awaiting us and off we went through Penzance and beyond along the Cornish Coast.

It was, I have to say, a very long drive on a twisty road through the moors, but the narrator was fabulous and the bus driver really funny! We essentially drove through the mining areas of Cornwall, and there are any fans of Poldark, this is where some was filmed, but more importantly, this is the actual setting for the novels and series.

We arrived at the beach below St. Michael's Mount. What a gorgeous view. (see pix below). The beach is lovely as well. We were there about 25 minutes before boarding again. You can go down a ramp to the beach. People were surfing and flying kits. Crystal clear, if windy, day.

Next stop through the heather filled hills to Land's End (literally). The shore there is rugged and really does capture offer wonderful views of the Cornish coast. There was a mall that had shops and bakery stands, where you could get Cornish Pasties (even vegan Pasties), donuts and other goodies.

Back on the coach after 45 minutes and home to the ship.

The tender coming home was a ship tender and much easier to deal with on both ends 😉

We met up with some folks with whom we're sharing a private Normandy Excursion so we could all meet each other. Nicest group ever and dinner was more than two hours! (Our fault not the MDR's).

Food was decent, if not remarkable. The salmon was actually quite delicious and perfectly prepared. Caesar salad with anchovies (optional, but I'm an anchovy girl).

Went to the casino where I had decided to spend $20 of the $80 I won the night before. I was up by another $145, but then made the mistake of doing a maximum bet several times in a row (not my intention). Still, I have about $70 still in my bank on the plus side. Oh well.

Weather cleared this morning, then rain again mid-day, and now partly cloudy, 66 F and just gorgeous. Rain's cleared, which is good because we're going off ship again in half an hour!

Thanks

We missed our first port, Guernsey, as it was too rough for the pilot to get on, but it was warm on deck out of the wind (around 68 to 70 degrees). Cobh, Dublin and Liverpool were all about the same temperature which, for us Brits, was nice and definitely shorts weather. Belfast and Greenock were cool around the mid 60s (but still in shorts)! Orkney was the coldest - probably mid 50s and no shorts. Fleece jackets and hats were in evidence. Edinburgh was sunny, in the mid 60s but windy - we had lunch on the deck in shorts and t shirts. Le Havre was drizzle and misty first thing but warm and sunny (mid 60s) by lunchtime.

In summary, British weather is a lottery - be prepared!

Have read from others who have blogged about this cruise that the temperature on the ship is on the cool side.  We are on this cruise sailing July 31 and I had planned on wearing short sleeve shirts to the MDR’s.  Would sweaters be a better choice.

We disembarked the ship the day you embarked.  We had a standing reservation for 6:30 at Concerto dining room for our party of 4.  The first night was such a mess (waited a half hour to be seated and didn't get our private table - took 3 hours to finish dinner at our shared table for 8!).  So after that we just ignored the reservation and went down to the Symphony dining room on deck 5.  Edna took good care of us.  Rarely were there lines down there of course with the port intensive nature of the cruise I think a lot of people opted for the buffet.

Looks like the good weather has returned.  We expected it to be a little warmer and drier on our cruise but the cool temperatures and rain (sometimes torrential such as when we were in Edinburgh) returned.  We packed a variety of clothes but I had to send our warmer stuff off to the laundry a lot more than I expected and most of the short sleeved stuff didn't get worn.  So for those planning future trips make sure that you plan for all options because you may be lucky and get the warm dry weather or 50's and rain!

I would go for the sweaters in general. A pashmina is nice to have--and a windbreaker and a hoodie. You'll. be fine. I have mainly capris, so I'm good. Haven't worn my sandals yet except on the formal night.

We also have a standing reservation in the Concerto. Haven't had to wait so far. Concerto for breakfast and when we're on ship, Horizon for lunch. international cafe for coffee (which is just across the piazza from the gelato bar, which was absolutely delicious BTW)

I'll be posting our Cobh (Cork) report later today, but here's a recap of the weather so far:

Day 1: Embarkation: Upper 60s. Deck was comfortable, balcony comfortable

Day 2: At sea: 60s during the day. Nice day to sit on the balcony and do activities--and explore the ship!!

Day 3 Falmouth: Started rainy, but cleared and by the time we left at noonish it was warm and sunny

Day 4: Cobh: same as Falmouth--rainy, then gorgeously sunny and in the mid 60s

Day 5: Dublin: mid 60s and pleasant. took raincoats but it did not rain on us.

If you get a chance when in the dining room, could you ask about this please?

Barbara B...thanks for your commentary...We will be on this cruise 8/24 leaving Southampton.  We also have a Princess transfer from LHR to Southampton the morning of 8/24.  You said it was a bit difficult finding the Princess rep...I assumed you meant for the location for pick up of the transfer bus..?  PLEASE tell us where we will find the Princess bus and rep. to Southampton. We've been told we will need to 'sign in' with the Princess rep before boarding the bus, but uncertain as to location!  We will be at Terminal 3, which may be different from your arrival terminal, so info might not be the same as ours.  Thanks much!

This sounds very good to me. I don't do well in hot weather. Much prefer cool.

I see you are not on the roll call for our cruise on 24th?  Come on over, lots of us there 🙂

Good morning! We are now in Greenock. Last night, when I would have updated Monday's adventures, the internet went down for a bit, so I couldn't write my Cobh report. I will get that posted this morning after breakfast. See ya in a bit.

Monday, July 10

Cobh, Ireland (the port gateway to Cork)

No tenders today. Yay!

We decided to explore Cobh (pronounced "Cove") in the morning as we had an organized excursion planned later this afternoon.

We walked off the ship and a very short distance away was the Emigration museum, which was a bit of a hidden gem. Didn't know what to expect, but it was really interesting to walk the path not only of immigrants who embarked on the many ships embarking from Cobh, but some of the pirate history as well. I've always been fascinated with Anne Bonny (if you watched Black Sails you'd know who she was) so there was a statue of her and a bio. As well as the interesting story of the very first immigrant to come to Ellis Island.

Although we are not Irish, our grandparents' generation came to the U.S. (from Eastern Europe) across the Atlantic, so the stories were evocative for me as well.

Maratime history was also highlighted in the small, but spacious museum, with displays, short films and artifacts from the Titanic, Lusitania, and other famous and infamous sailings.

There is a small gift shop adjacent.

Returned to the ship for lunch and a bit of a rest, some gelato, and then was time for our afternoon adventure.

Gelato bar menu. I had 1 scoop each of nutella and pistachio. Really, really good gelato!!

The Irish Heritage and Cultural show. The description in the cruise planner is a bit deceptive, as it suggests there is a great deal of walking and stairs. Neither is the case. The Commodore Hotel is perhaps a third of a mile away from the port, slightly uphill, but nothing terrible. A few steps into the charming old hotel and then a long flight up, but there is an elevator for those that need it.

Again, not knowing what to expect we sat in a cozy salon with a small table. We were told the show cannot start until everyone had a drink in hand (the drinks, we learned, were included!). Soon everyone had a pint of Guiness, beer, wine or soft drink and we were ready. The room was full with about 50 guests.

The group was fantastic, with a singer/guitarist, a Ulliean Piper (who also played the whistle, flute and recorder) and a piano player (who had an excellent fiddle emulator). They were joined by three step dancers who entertained us with reels, jigs, slipjigs and more.

The show was really fantastic, and if you want to get a feel for Irish music, dance and a bit of the culture, I highly recommend it! Well worth it.

Came back to the ship fairly late and just enough time to dress for dinner. We generally ate in the Concerto MDR because we were slightly forward amidships. The Allegro is a bit trickier to get to from where we are (at least for us). So if you are aft, opt for the Allegero--Fore, opt for the Concerto.

We went to the Princess theater show. Scouse standup comic John Evans. I did not stop laughing for an hour. He was really, really good to my very picky sense of humor 🙂

Time for bed, but before I do, I have to say how much I love the bed! It's like a crade, from the topper to the duvet to the pillows. I have vowed to get some of those pillows for our bed at home!! They are that good.

Dun Loaghaire/Dublin

Before I start, let me say something about the weather thus far. As much as the forecast has been for rain every day since we left Southampton, we have mainly experienced relatively clear skies and pleasant temperatures in the 60s.

First, the town is pronounced Dun "Leary." Gaelic is not phonetic so you can't sound anything out.. Another tender port today. But we were in the orange Princess tenders, so no terror of the seas getting on or off.

The ship decided that tickets were not necessary in the morning so people could come and go as they like, which worked out just fine until just before noon. The tenders were all out and the lines to the gangway was at a standstill  So we were quite delayed getting off the ship. MInd, we were on our own, so if you were on an excursion, you did get off the ship timely.

Instead of exploring  Dun Loaghaire,  we decided to go into Dublin. So after a 20 minute tender over to the dock, we opted to do the DoLondon hop on hop off. €30 (more or less $30) to get a return train ticket and the hop on hop off double deck bus.

The train was ok, but the signs for the next stops were all in Gaelic and no English. We knew we were getting off at Pearce Station, so we knew where we were going, and everyone was incredibly nice.

The train takes about half an hour or so. We hopped on the bus and decided to go to Dublin Castle, the Book of Kells and to have lunch). By the time we got into Dublin it was 1:00, and we went to the castle (first). The courtyard is impressive, but we couldn't get into a tour until it would be too late to make the trek back to the ship (and this was also the case for everything else by that time).

Dublin a bit city, and like any downtown is quite congested. So as lovely as it was, it was not the best choice. We had lunch at the Bar Temple (which was excellent, and just across the castle)--and if you are vegetarian or pescatarian, it has a large selection, for which were thankful. I had a seafood c chowder, which was quite good.

By now it is 2:00 and we decided to get back on the bus and stay there till we were back at Pearce station so we could get back to the ship in time for a 6:00 dinner reservation.

The bus loops around and is narrated, so that was quite nice, as we passed significant buildings and squares along the way.

It was the most disappointing day for us so far, but not terrible. Nice lunch, beautiful weather and ac for a glimpse of the castle tower. We chatted with locals and got back to the ship around 5:15 with an hour to spare before the "all aboard."

Had a nice dinner--Atlantic salmon, caesar salad, mushy peas, and a delicious pavlova for dessert. I forgot to photo the menus. I will do them for Wednesday's July 12 report.

Phil ordered from the Vegan menu, which was excellent and varied (and changes nightly as well)

We did not go the Princess Theater show (A Queen retrospective). I love Queen--my favorite band of the period, but I'm a bit of a snob when it comes to their music. I was also tired and a bit grouchy, so I think there will be a second one later in the trip.

The sunset is rather late and there was still light in sky past 11:00 p.m. These were taken around 8:30 p.m., I think. From our balcony.

I actually think I am caught up. Phew! Nice to have a morning to do that. This afternoon we are off on a tour of the Scottish Lochs.

If you have questions about anything on the ship or something I've omitted, please mention below.

I am so thrilled that so many are finding these blogs interesting and helpful (and thank so much for the wonderful Badge!!) See you tomorrow.

You will be escorted to the bus. The princess representatives are right as you come out of the customs area. there’s a little café just to the left where people gather after they’ve touched base with the wrap. we were a little late getting out of customs because of a party stop and she had vanished momentarily but we found her.

When the bus is ready, everyone is escorted together. Bags are taken and stowed below and you don’t see them again until they magically appear at your cabin door sometime later in the afternoon or early evening.

I would love to do this cruise next year and your  review is really helpful. Regarding Dublin would a cruise excursion be a good option or just not enough time to enjoy the city?

I would do an excursion if I had to do over. For Dublin proper, you need days, not an hour or two. Excursions are very directed and scheduled ahead of time for access to the location. This was the only port that we did not pre-schedule a shore excursion. But this is my opinion as a person in their 60s.

Thank you for these wonderful posts: I love reading them. We’re on Regal one week today for the BI cruise - will be so nice to get to visit so many places around my country in a short time like this,

I would also like to thank you for these posts!  We cruise on 24 August and have organised mostly Princess excursions and two private.

Thanks much, Barbara...

Top Cruises Designed for Adults

While many all-inclusive – or mostly all-inclusive – boutique and luxury cruise lines are family-friendly, many of the onboard venues and activities are adult-by-design. Since there are few (or no) activities geared toward younger cruisers and no babysitting services, you typically won't find parents with young children on these ships.

Azamara's four upscale boutique ships provide immersive travel experiences geared toward adults. These smaller ships – accommodating a maximum of 702 guests – sail waterways and rivers larger ships can't access, docking in city centers and unique ports of call around the globe.

Many Azamara voyages also offer longer stays and overnights in port not found on many other itineraries, including wine and culture itineraries. Some even feature special events, such as a voyage to the Monaco Grand Prix in May 2023 and 2024, or a 12-night round-trip cruise from Buenos Aires, Argentina , to attend Carnival in Rio de Janeiro . In addition, the line is extending its offerings on Country Intensive voyages in 2023 and 2024 with itineraries in destinations like various European countries, South Africa, Australia and Japan.

On board you'll find a wide selection of casual and formal dining options ranging from Windows Cafe to the main dining room, Discoveries Restaurant. Specialty restaurant offerings include top-notch steak and seafood at Prime C or, if you prefer, Italian fare at Aqualina. First offered on Azamara Onward (the newest ship) before being expanded to the whole fleet, Atlas Bar serves innovative craft cocktails like the London Fog Martini or Tuscan Delight. Discoveries Lounge is another guest favorite for mingling with fellow cruisers at the end of the day. Wine aficionados will enjoy pairing limited-production and rare vintages from the Wine Cellar with dinner in the evenings.

Cruise fares include stateroom accommodations; select spirits, wine and beer; gratuities; and nonalcoholic beverages like bottled water, specialty coffees and tea. You'll also get access to complimentary AzAmazing Celebrations with special evening and daytime events ashore and on the ship. Additional amenities like a complimentary internet package, free specialty dining, butler service and other perks come with suite accommodations.

Find an Azamara cruise on GoToSea.

Scenic Eclipse, touted as "The World's First Discovery Yacht," offers an all-inclusive, ultra-luxurious experience for just 228 guests (with 172 crew). The ship's Polar Class 6 rating enables it to sail to destinations like Antarctica. On these expedition-style voyages, the ship will carry only 200 guests and a total of 192 crew. All suite accommodations include a private veranda or terrace; butler service; state-of-the-art amenities; Egyptian cotton linens; and an in-suite minibar stocked with Champagne, wine and other personally selected beverages. You'll also find indulgences like onboard helicopters for intimate excursions and Scenic Neptune, an underwater submarine.

Guests can enjoy up to 10 dining experiences on the ship, including fine dining at Lumière. This elegant French restaurant seats just 35 guests and features a multicourse degustation menu and a Champagne bar. For a less formal option, check out the Asian, Indian and Middle Eastern specialties – and the intimate teppanyaki grill experience – at Night Market @ Koko's. When it's time for an after-dinner drink, sample one (or several) of 100-plus whiskeys available at Scenic Lounge Bar. Other onboard activities include taking a culinary class at Scenic Épicure, getting an invigorating treatment at Senses Spa, or just relaxing with spectacular sea views and Champagne on deck 10 at the Panorama Bar.

The line's second luxury yacht, Scenic Eclipse II, set sail on its inaugural voyage from Lisbon, Portugal , in mid-April 2023. The new ship is 550 feet in length and nearly identical to its sister ship, Scenic Eclipse. One addition to the vessel is the new Sky Deck. This space boasts 270-degree views, a bar with indoor and outdoor seating, and six private cabanas. What's more, the oval-shaped Sky Deck pool is the perfect place to kick back – and it's the place to be during the sail-away deck party, especially as the sun sets over the ocean.

On board, guests will have butler service, a nearly one-to-one ratio of guests to staff, 24-hour gourmet dining, premium alcoholic beverages, one complimentary shore excursion in each port, gratuities and more.

Silversea 's newest ship, Silver Nova, is set to debut in summer 2023. The luxury flagship of the line boasts an even more upscale guest experience in the suites with butler service for every accommodation, an impressive crew-to-guest ratio, more open spaces and top-notch cuisine. Silver Nova is also the first vessel in the fleet to be powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG) and is billed as a more sustainable cruise ship. Silver Nova will begin sailing in the Mediterranean before repositioning to the Caribbean and South America for the winter.

The second-newest ship in the fleet, Silver Endeavour, was regarded as one of the most luxurious expedition ships at sea when it launched in July 2022. With its Polar Class 6 rating, the ship visits the far ends of the Earth in the remote polar regions of Antarctica and the Arctic.

Endeavour's features include state-of-the-art technology for navigation and exploration – and what Silversea bills as industry-leading ratios of Zodiac boats and experts to guests. Passengers also enjoy luxurious amenities among the ship's eight public decks, from the various dining and drinking venues to a two-story solarium with a swimming pool and whirlpool tub; cruisers can also take advantage of indoor and outdoor observation areas and a spa. You'll receive Silversea's high level of service with just 200 guests and 200 crew, providing an immersive and personalized experience aboard.

Seabourn Cruise Line

Seabourn also features an all-inclusive adult-focused experience on its five luxury ocean vessels and two expedition ships. The line's newest ship, Seabourn Venture, is an ultra-luxury Polar Class 6 purpose-built vessel with 132 ocean-front veranda suites. Seabourn Pursuit, the second expedition vessel, is scheduled to debut in fall 2023. The ships are equipped with two submarines for underwater exploration, kayaks and 24 Zodiacs. They will also each have a 24-person expedition team to explore far-reaching destinations like Antarctica, the Arctic and the Kimberley region of Australia, as well as places closer to home such as Iceland, South America and the British Isles.

Seabourn Ovation , the line's newest luxury cruise ship, accommodates up to 600 guests and offers amenities found on most of Seabourn 's ships: well-appointed oceanfront suites, living areas with dining tables, verandas, a nearly one-to-one staff-to-guest ratio and a Personal Suite Host to cater to your every need. World-class dining options are in partnership with renowned chef Thomas Keller, such as The Grill, Seabourn's signature restaurant. You'll also find health and wellness programs curated by Dr. Andrew Weil.

The "Seabourn Conversations" program is another highlight, where accomplished experts host adventures ashore, participate in meals and chat with guests on board the ship. For a special treat during your cruise, don't miss "Caviar in the Surf" beach party. This event in select destinations includes chilled Champagne, caviar, music and a barbecue set against the backdrop of white sand beaches and turquoise waters in beautiful locales around the world.

Windstar Cruises

Windstar's six intimate ships offer two styles of yachting that accommodate between 148 and 342 guests. Passengers can choose between cruising on one of the line's three masted Wind Class vessels or one of its three Star Plus Class ships. Windstar's adult-focused and casual – but still elegant – onboard experiences feature locally inspired top-notch dining (in partnership with the James Beard Foundation), guest lecturers, a water sports platform on all the ships, an open bridge policy and an engaging social environment.

If you're looking for a romantic getaway , Windstar is also regarded as one of the most romantic cruise lines for a wedding, honeymoon , vow renewal or anniversary trip, especially in magical destinations like the South Pacific, Cinque Terre along Italy's Ligurian coast and Monte Carlo in Monaco . Windstar's smaller ships can reach small ports, coves, harbors and villages not accessible by larger vessels. They also offer more than 2,000 immersive cultural experiences in port, many with small groups. You'll find late evenings and overnights in the ports of call where you can experience the local culture and cuisine after dark.

New itineraries for 2023 and 2024 include Australia and New Zealand sailings as well as intensive voyages to the Holy Lands that explore Arabia and the Red Sea. You can also travel to the Central American coast or book a 10-day sailing from Copenhagen to Amsterdam. If the Middle East is on your must-see list, the 10-day Sparkling Sands & Cities of the Persian Gulf itinerary checks all the boxes with stops in the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Oman, Bahrain and other ports of call.

Other Top Adults-Only Cruise Options

While these larger ships are kid-friendly – and offer activities for families and children of all ages – adults can also find hidden retreats and dining and bar venues just for grown-ups. These spaces are typically quieter and away from the crowds. If you're traveling with (or without) children on one of these lines, you'll want to know the adults-only venues to plan your afternoon or evening out – sans kids.

Celebrity Cruises

Celebrity Cruises offers spaces created with adults in mind. On Celebrity Beyond and the new Celebrity Ascent (debuting in December 2023), guests can have a unique adults-only dining experience at Le Voyage by Daniel Boulud. The world-renowned Global Culinary Ambassador for the line, Daniel Boulud, created the menu at this elegant venue, incorporating dishes inspired by his travels. You'll also find an impressive wine list to accompany your dining experience at the restaurant.

When it's time to relax, The Solarium is a popular adults-only area that's found on the Resort Deck of all Celebrity ships, including Celebrity Beyond and Celebrity Apex . This light-filled pool area encased by a glass dome is the perfect quiet space for reading a book or taking a nap. While there, you can also grab a light breakfast or lunch at the Spa Cafe and Juice Bar – or order your favorite adult beverage while lounging in the hot tub.

Other adult-focused venues to check out on Celebrity Beyond and Apex and are the new elevated bar spaces. The Edge series World Class Bar – a popular spot on other Celebrity ships – features craft cocktails in a beautiful setting. And don't miss the two-story Sunset Bar on Celebrity Beyond, reimagined by interior designer and TV personality Nate Berkus. The aft location of the bar offers almost twice the space as previous iterations – plus beautiful wake views.

Princess Cruises

The Sanctuary, an adults-only retreat (for ages 18 and older), offers cruisers an escape from bustling public spaces on your ship. The relaxing top-deck venue is available on all Princess Cruises ships and features plush lounge chairs, a spa-like setting and Serenity Stewards, who serve light bites, spa cuisine and other refreshments. To fully unwind, consider reserving a private cabana, where you can book an open-air massage. The child-free venue varies from ship to ship. On six ships – Sky Princess , Majestic Princess , Regal Princess , Royal Princess , Enchanted Princess and Discovery Princess – adults can also enjoy an exclusive Retreat pool, cabanas and bar area. On the newer vessels – Discovery Princess, Enchanted Princess and Sky Princess – The Sanctuary also offers an expanded space with more cabanas.

If you're heading off the ship for an excursion to Princess Cays (the cruise line's private island in the Bahamas), plan to chill out for the day in an adults-only Sanctuary Bungalow. Located just minutes from the ocean and beach, the rentals accommodate four people, and the price includes two complimentary float rentals. You can also order a gourmet picnic to enjoy while lounging on shore.

Back on the ship, adults can reserve a spot for the line's new Winemaker Dinners in partnership with Napa Valley's Caymus Vineyards. These special evenings are offered fleetwide, two to three times during each cruise, for just 12 guests in the Crown Grill specialty restaurant. Winemaker Chuck Wagner personally selected the wines from the notable Napa Valley winery to pair with the elevated five-course menu.

Carnival Cruise Line

Located on all of Carnival Cruise Line 's cruise ships , Serenity Adult-Only Retreat is a tranquil oasis hidden away from bustling venues and family-friendly areas. Access to the space is complimentary for passengers 21 and older; while there, guests can enjoy relaxing loungers, daybeds and whirlpools. Take in the warm sun and ocean breeze with a signature sangria in hand, or stop for a healthy meal at Fresh Creations Salad outlet (available on select ships) for an alfresco lunch. Passengers can make the most of some alone time with a quick nap and a good book – or simply kick back and relax before heading back into the high-energy environment elsewhere on the ship.

Disney Cruise Line

Though Disney Cruise Line tends to attract families and younger travelers, it also offers multiple spaces and activities for adults 18 and older. Disney's newest ship, Disney Wish , even boasts several adults-only luxurious venues featuring characters and scenes from "Beauty and the Beast."

For top-notch steaks, contemporary Italian cuisine and panoramic ocean views, make a reservation at the Cogsworth-inspired Palo Steakhouse. If you prefer French-style fare and world-class wines served in an elegant and shimmering setting (think Lumiere), Enchanté by three-Michelin-starred chef Arnaud Lallement is the perfect place for a romantic dinner for two. Before dinner at either venue, enjoy a signature cocktail at The Rose. After dinner, you won't want to miss the galactic libations and ever-changing views of faraway galaxies at the adults-only Star Wars: Hyperspace Lounge bar.

Depending on the ship, adult travelers can also dance the night away in a trendy club, watch live entertainment or a cabaret show, catch a sports game on satellite TV, or relax with an after-dinner cocktail at a bar or lounge. Outdoors, Quiet Cove Pool is a tranquil place to relax on all the ships. For even more pampering, Senses Spa & Salon boasts treatment rooms with ocean views, luxurious spa villas and other amenities. On Castaway Cay, Disney Cruise Line 's private island, adults can head to Serenity Bay – a scenic, adults-only stretch of the beach.

Norwegian Cruise Line

Norwegian Cruise Line has three adults-only outdoor venues for guests 18 and older (though specific spaces vary by ship). The venues feature ocean views, bars, plush seating and other amenities. On Norwegian 's Bliss , Joy , Escape , Getaway and Breakaway ships, the Vibe Beach Club sun deck invites guests to relax in oversized hot tubs and enjoy perks like a full-service bar and chilled towels. Norwegian Encore , one of the line's newest ships, boasts an impressive two-level beach club. On Norwegian Prima and soon-to-launch Norwegian Viva, an elevated beach club experience includes the line's first infinity hot tubs. You can purchase a multiday pass in advance for Vibe Beach Club, and cabana rentals are available for more privacy.

At Norwegian Epic 's Posh Beach Club, complimentary perks include fruit skewers, cold water spritzers and a snack menu. Single- or multiday passes are available to all adult cruisers, while travelers who book a Haven suite can access Posh Beach Club for free. Spice H2O is another adults-only venue on the Norwegian Bliss, Joy, Escape, Getaway, Breakaway, Epic, Star and Spirit vessels; access is complimentary. At night, the space becomes an open-air dance club where you can spend the evening partying under the stars.

Royal Caribbean International

Solarium is Royal Caribbean International 's complimentary, child-free space open to guests 16 and older. Located at the front of every ship in the fleet, this indoor-outdoor oasis (or indoors-only on Quantum Class ships) offers impressive vistas and endless views of the sea. Thanks to a full glass canopy over the interior space, adult passengers can enjoy quiet lounging areas, swimming pools and whirlpool tubs with a view, no matter the weather. On top of that, select ships feature a cascading lagoon for further relaxation. Be sure to grab a tropical cocktail or zero-proof drink at Solarium Bar (or Sunshine Bar, on Quantum ships) to sip poolside while enjoying the ocean vistas.
