These easy-on, easy-off plazas are open 24 hours a day and offer fuel, restrooms, a variety of food options, and other amenities to make travel comfortable and efficient.

Electric Vehicle Charging Stations

Blink Level II electric vehicle charging stations are installed and ready for customers to use at five turnpike service plazas: Oakmont Plum ,  Bowmansville ,  Peter J. Camiel ,  King of Prussia,  and  New Stanton . The charging stations are located in the car parking lots. A fee is charged. Customers can pay using a credit card through the Blink App, or by contacting Blink at 1-888-998-2546. See the Blink Network website for current charges: https://www.blinkcharging.com/ .

In addition, Tesla Electric Superchargers are available at North and South Somerset , Bowmansville , Hickory Run , and Peter J. Camiel  plazas.

E-85 fuel is available at the Oakmont Plum  service plaza.

Compressed Natural Gas (CNG)

Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) is a readily available alternative to gasoline that’s made by compressing natural gas to less than 1% of its volume at standard atmospheric pressure. Consisting mostly of methane, CNG is odorless, colorless and tasteless. It’s drawn from domestically drilled natural gas wells or in conjunction with crude oil production.

CNG is available at the New Stanton  service plaza.

RV Sanitary Stations

RV Sanitary Stations are available at the Sideling Hill , Allentown , Lawn and Valley Forge service plazas. A fee is charged for use of these stations.

The 17 24-hour service plazas are located along the more than 550 miles of the PA Turnpike at convenient intervals. Additionally, The Traveler Information Welcome Center is located at the King of Prussia Service Plaza in eastern Pennsylvania. This center provides directions and travel advice including information on accommodations and reservation service for participating properties, and is operated by PennDOT .

We always expect the prices to be higher at rest stops-understood. I didn't know it at the time, but I had clicked a 15% one-time BK deal on my credit card site, so that was fortunate. I had a Whopper Jr. and Fries and the... two other adults ordered a Whopper and Fries. Both commented on how large the burger was and how good it was. The food was hot and done well. our three-year old traveler loved the paper crown and prize in the meal, and also was eating the food! My one complaint was that it was hard to navigate the sizes on the board, and the lady seemed impatient about it. It wasn't until I finally saw it and exclaimed that to her and when my husband said he was a former BK employee that we endeared her to us for our confusion. When people are traveling, please realize it's hard to navigate food signs and menus and if a traveler asks a question, he/she could just be tired. It can be dicey out there on the Turnpike sometimes! More

Bathrooms not so clean. You have to fight with the toilet paper holders just to get toilet paper. And this is true with all the travel stops. Could someone come up with a better solution? Lots of seating inside. Burger King,Starbucks,A Plus store,Starbucks,Sbarro's and Louisiana... Kitchen. More

Stopped here for a much needed rest break while traveling to eastern Pennsylvania. Glad to see clean restrooms, several fast food choices, & a mini market. Seating restrictions due to Covid-19, but there were still plenty of tables and chairs for everyone. Gas was way... too expensive and glad we had plenty & didn't have to fill up. More

It has a good selection of food for the travelers/tourists. Sbarro attracted me to spend money, but bathrooms could be cleaner, and the travel guide selection could've of been fuller.

Was a member of a bus tour that stopped at this South Somerset Travel Plaza for a restroom and snack break. Yes, there are many restroom stalls, but when we stopped most of them were cordoned off for cleaning by one individual. Goodness, we had... a long wait! It really was unnecessary to close off that many stalls when only one person was cleaning them. None of us in line were very happy. Otherwise, this plaza offers several different options for eating and snacking. More

As the first travel plaza on the turnpike after I70, this place is extremely busy. There are plenty of seats to sit down and eat, but very little room in front of the restaurants, so the walkways are clogged up.

Extremely dirty eating areas, tables, chairs, walls,bathrooms, entry doors, & floors! Would recommend you pass the rest stop & food Stations even under extreme situations!

This rest stop gets really busy. Ok for a quick stop. I was here during a busy weekend. I did not eat here but used the restroom. Also bought gas here. Getting in and out of the parking lot was pretty quick and easy.

Stopped at the South Somerset Travel Plaza on our way to Ohio. Easy on, off access. Clean restrooms. Multiple eateries.

I recently stopped at the South Somerset Travel Plaza while traveling the Pennsylvania Turnpike. The plaza offered large restrooms for accommodate a large quantity of travelers. Restaurants included Popeye's Louisiana Chicken, Auntie Anne's Pretzels, Starbucks and Burger King as well as the A+ mini mart... for snacks and beverages. The travel plaza was clean and inviting. They also sell Sunoco gasoline along the turnpike. This plaza provided a relaxing break from our long trip. I would be willing to stop at this travel plaza again in the future. More

Walked up to the counter, only one customer in front of us ... and there were three of the large pretzels. No nuggets, no pretzel dogs, nothing. Really? Late in the afternoon, certainly past the lunch rush and nothing? Counter workers said 25 minutes for... a pretzel dog. We walked. The two people working just gave off a I really don't give a *** attitude. More

Great plaza and clean bathrooms. What else can we ask for. And a Starbucks. Lol. The food options are nice and a good sized convenient store.

While driving East from Cleveland to D.C. we needed a stop along the PA Turnpike. We first tried the Oakmont service plaza in Verona, PA, but it only had a bedraggled a Burger King, so we went on to the next area in Somerset. Much... larger, clean bathrooms, a Pizza Hut and a couple of other fast food outlets. The pizza was cheesy in both senses of the word, and not wonderful. We'd have done better to stop at the last area in Ohio. But....all we really needed was a rest stop, so hey. More

Not a bad place for a break, it was clean and so were the restrooms. we ate at burger king and that wasnt the best burger king i have had. we had eaten there before and its been really good but that day not so... much More

During traveling to Skyline Drive we stayed at South Somerset Travel Plaza which is good to stay, eat and relax during traveling. There are many choices for food including Starbucks. Good Restrooms and spacious place to relax.

the plaza is decent but do not eat from Burger King and probably the Popeyes! We hesitantly ordered Burger King which is shared with the Popeyes somewhat. we became violently ill. We both have diarrhe, nausea and now my partner is throwing up. We can't get to an urgent care because she is an OTR truck driver. It seemed like they served us burgers that had been sitting all day under a warmer because they weren't that hot.

I play different set lists depending on the season of the year. You should hear my awesome Somerset. I think PA travelers must be easy to please. Yes the items are consistent in the rest areas... consistently bland and obscenely overpriced! The worst part here - since I've only ever really stopped here for gas, with barely an exception - is that the gas prices are way higher than off the Turnpike. For example... I paid 2.76 per gallon here... stuck to $10. Breezewood was 20 cents cheaper. Cumberland, MD was 40 cents cheaper. I mean come on. It's practically just down the road. People talking about Burger King being good food, I mean, I guess anything is good compared to licking the sidewalk, but I still my choose that over Burger King. Lots of space, nice and clean, restrooms not as perfect as advertised, but if I can pee in them, I don't care. The plaza looks like it was recently serviced. I guess that's why they call it a Service Plaza.

We arrived here at 10:30 pm so it wasn't busy at all, however it was SO nice inside! There is a Starbucks, Burger King, Popeyes, Pizza Hut and Auntie Anne's. Starbucks and Burger King are 24 hrs. The bathrooms were clean and there was even a small gift shop. It was a welcome sight after being on the road so long.

Many of the PA turnpike plazas have recently been rebuilt and what a great improvement. Super nice facility. I find these places so convenient that I wish they existed on non-toll freeways as well. Everything you need is here and you can be as quick or slow as you want.

The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission has done a good job modernizing the service areas along the turnpike. They are all more or less the same. Most important, the bathrooms are clean and functional. The flushless urinals in the men's room are quite amazing. The food courts are uninspired, but the consistency is useful. Starbucks is ubiquitous. Even the gasoline prices seem to be reasonable compared to the gouging that was the norm in the past. It is no longer a chore to make a pit stop, although it is still a long way from home.

Quick review. There are around 10-15 service plazas along the PA turnpike. Most of them are exactly the same. Same gas pumps. Same convenient stores. Same fast food places. Same type of bathrooms. I think my main reason for reviewing one of these plazas is because of the fast food. If you do need a snack(and we did because we used the Turnpike for nearly 250 miles!), there are so many people at these plazas that the food is almost guaranteed fresh. It might be fast food, but it'll definitely be some of the freshest you've devoured in a while. The bathrooms are also clean. Some of the plazas are questionable, but for the most part they're all clean. With plazas, you might also think you'll have to wait in line for gas. After stopping at a few during different times of the day, I didn't have to wait in line once. That's surprising seeing as to how there are only 10-12 pumps! I still prefer the truck stop fuel/convenient store/1 restaurant exits, but you don't have much of a choice on the turnpike.

Super busy location with ridiculous gas prices. The gas area is very congested and prone to craziness.

This was a bigger than average service plaza with Popeyes and Starbucks and Burger King. I tried the rest room. There was a sign that it was closed but then, they have two sides, and the other side was available. It wasn't exceptional but it wasn't dirty and the stall door locked. When I went to wash my hands, the first soap dispenser was empty, but the second ejected some soap and I was able to wash and later, dry my hands. I didn't try the food, but there were many selections. The filling station was busy, as usual, but they removed the little booth they used to have and the attendant is inside the building. You can however, use your card at the pump. (Hope they check regularly for card skimmers--they're getting smaller and more difficult to detect.) Since it was Sunoco, gasoline was available in 5 grades, and they didn't supply 86 octane, thankfully, in order to make it seem less expensive. $3.549 wasn't bad for today and it was cheaper further east on the Turnpike.

West entrance

To clear up some confusion, both the North (westbound) and South (eastbound) plazas are brand new, as the old plazas were old and pretty outdated. North (westbound) plaza has a Roy Rogers and South (eastbound) plaza has a Burger King. The plazas are laid out well, although you tend to end up with a large traffic jam of people in the quick mart, which could have been made larger to accommodate a larger volume of people. The no-flush urinals in the bathrooms smell bad all the time, but the plaza is otherwise pretty clean.

I mean it is a service plaza haha. Gas, food all the essentials. Not really sure how to rate one as good, or not. I mean I guess it would not be good if they were dirty or something? I am not sure lol, overall clean good place to crash for the night if you have a truck, and get gas.

As the first travel plaza on the turnpike after I70, this place is extremely busy. There are plenty of seats to sit down and eat, but very little room in front of the restaurants, so the walkways are clogged up.

Extremely dirty eating areas, tables, chairs, walls,bathrooms, entry doors, & floors! Would recommend you pass the rest stop & food Stations even under extreme situations!

This rest stop gets really busy. Ok for a quick stop. I was here during a busy weekend. I did not eat here but used the restroom. Also bought gas here. Getting in and out of the parking lot was pretty quick and easy.

I recently stopped at the South Somerset Travel Plaza while traveling the Pennsylvania Turnpike. The plaza offered large restrooms for accommodate a large quantity of travelers. Restaurants included Popeye's Louisiana Chicken, Auntie Anne's Pretzels, Starbucks and Burger King as well as the A+ mini mart... for snacks and beverages. The travel plaza was clean and inviting. They also sell Sunoco gasoline along the turnpike. This plaza provided a relaxing break from our long trip. I would be willing to stop at this travel plaza again in the future. More

Walked up to the counter, only one customer in front of us ... and there were three of the large pretzels. No nuggets, no pretzel dogs, nothing. Really? Late in the afternoon, certainly past the lunch rush and nothing? Counter workers said 25 minutes for... a pretzel dog. We walked. While driving East from Cleveland to D.C. we needed a stop along the PA Turnpike. We first tried the Oakmont service plaza in Verona, PA, but it only had a bedraggled a Burger King, so we went on to the next area in Somerset. Much... larger, clean bathrooms, a Pizza Hut and a couple of other fast food outlets. The pizza was cheesy in both senses of the word, and not wonderful. We'd have done better to stop at the last area in Ohio. But....all we really needed was a rest stop, so hey. More

During traveling to Skyline Drive we stayed at South Somerset Travel Plaza which is good to stay, eat and relax during traveling. There are many choices for food including Starbucks. Good Restrooms and spacious place to relax.

We always expect the prices to be higher at rest stops-understood. I didn't know it at the time, but I had clicked a 15% one-time BK deal on my credit card site, so that was fortunate. I had a Whopper Jr. and Fries and the... two other adults ordered a Whopper and Fries. Both commented on how large the burger was and how good it was. The food was hot and done well. our three-year old traveler loved the paper crown and prize in the meal, and also was eating the food! My one complaint was that it was hard to navigate the sizes on the board, and the lady seemed impatient about it. It wasn't until I finally saw it and exclaimed that to her and when my husband said he was a former BK employee that we endeared her to us for our confusion. When people are traveling, please realize it's hard to navigate food signs and menus and if a traveler asks a question, he/she could just be tired. It can be dicey out there on the Turnpike sometimes! More

Bathrooms not so clean. You have to fight with the toilet paper holders just to get toilet paper. And this is true with all the travel stops. Could someone come up with a better solution? Lots of seating inside. Burger King,Starbucks,A Plus store,Starbucks,Sbarro's and Louisiana... Kitchen. More

Stopped here for a much needed rest break while traveling to eastern Pennsylvania. Glad to see clean restrooms, several fast food choices, & a mini market. Seating restrictions due to Covid-19, but there were still plenty of tables and chairs for everyone. Gas was way... too expensive and glad we had plenty & didn't have to fill up. More

It has a good selection of food for the travelers/tourists. Sbarro attracted me to spend money, but bathrooms could be cleaner, and the travel guide selection could've of been fuller.

Somerset man avoids camera during court appearance on attempted kidnapping charge

FALL RIVER, Mass. (WJAR) — A Somerset man accused of trying to kidnap two 13-year-old girls in Swansea went before a judge Monday morning.

Sixty-year-old Michael Nutbrown was charged with attempted kidnapping last week.

Nutbrown stayed hidden from a camera in the courtroom, but his family said he would never do something like he's accused of doing.

Police said he drove past two girls walking home from school on Thursday, near a shopping plaza in Swansea, and was seen on surveillance video clearing out his car.

"The individual is seen getting out of the car, moving items from his back seat and placing them Into his trunk, as he's doing these acts he keeps walking over towards and looking down the park where the girls had been,” a prosecutor said in court.

Police said he drove up to the girls, pulled over and asked them if they wanted a ride.

The girls ran away toward a store.

Investigators said Nutbrown was later seen on video shoplifting at Walmart, but did use his card for a few purchases.

Police were able to track him down using his debit card.

Nutbrown's attorney said he claims he had seen the girls almost get hit by a car and pulled over to ask if they were safe.

"He asked them if they were OK and basically there was no other interaction. He never got out of the vehicle. He never attempted to take the girls into the vehicle,” said Nutbrown’s attorney.

Nutbrown's brother and sister-in-law were present for his arraignment.

They said he suffers from mental health issues and that there's no way he could have done what he's accused of doing.

Nutbrown's bail was set at $1,000, and he's not to have any contact with the girls.

HIs next court hearing was set for April 30.
